Yelena Staseyeva

Yelena Staseyeva (LMFT 103656) received a Masters in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California University Northridge in December 2010. She is a licensed Marriage and Couples Therapist and a certified Mindfulness Awareness Therapist. She is also an Associate Professor of Psychology at Los Angeles City College. Yelena has trained in a variety of settings, making her a very versatile therapist. She has worked in private practice, as well as in integrated behavioral health settings with dual diagnosis disorders. Yelena also has extensive experience working with adults and older adults, as well as with at risk youth (ages 8 through 17) and their families, conducting individual and family therapy. She especially enjoys working with individuals, families and couples supporting them with rebuilding trust, improving communication, increasing self-efficacy, and facilitating healthy transitions to normal life after traumatic events.

Yelena works both in English and Russian providing therapy to a variety of racial, ethnic and cultural groups. She approaches treatment with a humanistic and psychodynamic approach, using cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused and positive psychology interventions, as well as incorporating mindfulness in psychotherapy to foster well-being and help with difficult mental states, such as depression and anxiety. Every few months, Yelena enjoys conducting personal growth seminars.
